FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY
To understand who I am, you first need to know why I do what I do.
KAVOD- The glory of God. In a clear, evident and sometimes physical way.
Kavod is a magnificent word because it’s not just one thing. Kavod can be these moments of awareness. When all of a sudden we become acutely aware of the Creator’s realness, nearness, and goodness. John Mark Comer describes it as if “Heaven and earth were wed, if only for a moment.”
Moments like being with ones you love, marrying the one you love, working in our giftings, & experiencing the earth He’s given us to enjoy. They give us a glimpse of His goodness. Kavod is evidence of a kind and gracious God & that is exactly what I enjoy capturing & why I’ve been tasked with this job.
The name’s Holmes. Chandler Holmes
I began photography in 2017 after a handful of other creative endeavors. It was a big challenge and really excited me so for that reason- it stuck. After a couple years of photography I found myself being drawn to videography and have been offering video services since 2020.
Being dually based in California + Alabama makes one thing abundantly clear. I’m a sucker for the ocean, but also the south. I was born and raised in Alabama, but slowly found my way out west to California. With that being said, you can typically find me in a ton of locations across the United States.
I have a passion for multiple forms of creative medium. But above all I love shooting on film. More specifically people on film! Years ago I came across my grandad’s old film camera. At a time when photography was beginning to feel redundant and a bit boring film revitalized my work and got me AMPED. I am what some call a dual shooter, in that I specialize in using a digital camera and a vintage film camera for a lot of my work. I consistently shoot video & photo on film using a Super 8 video camera and my Contax 645 photo film camera. Film is where I come alive. It is timeless and will never grow old.
I’m an avid Jesus follower
I Enjoy surfing, snowboarding, and baseball. No joke-bring your glove to a shoot and let’s throw afterwards.
I’m a big reader. Or at least trying to be.
I really enjoy running and weightlifting.
I also really enjoy a good dog. If you’ve got one, you better bring it to our shoot!
